Tow Truck Cochrane — 24/7 Towing & Roadside Help

Cochrane sits at the bottom of the Big Hill, a long 7% grade that tests brakes in summer and traction in winter. AR Towing dispatches to Cochrane around the clock, from Highway 1A to the Cowboy Trail.

The Cochrane roads we cover

Two highways shape how people get around Cochrane. Highway 1A comes in from Calgary and drops down the Big Hill, a 3.5 km stretch at a 7% grade, before running through town along the Bow River valley. Highway 22, the Cowboy Trail, crosses it at the Highway 1A / Highway 22 interchange in the northwest corner of town, a junction that has a long history of backing up.

In town we cover every neighbourhood, including Downtown, Glenbow, Cochrane Heights, Heritage Hills, Rivercrest, Bow Meadows and Sunterra Ridge Estates. Heading east toward Airdrie on Highway 567, or out along the Cowboy Trail? Call us there too.

What usually goes wrong around Cochrane

The Big Hill is the obvious one. A 7% grade is hard on brakes and transmissions going down, and on engines and cooling systems coming up, especially with a trailer behind you. In winter, a skiff of snow on that grade is enough to slide a vehicle into the ditch or stall it partway up.

Chinook winds make it trickier. A warm afternoon melts the snow, it refreezes after dark, and roads through the river valley that were bare at lunch can be glazed by evening. If you're stuck on the grade or in a ditch, stay in your vehicle with your hazards on until we arrive, rather than walking along the highway.

Where your vehicle goes

Some drivers want their vehicle at a shop in Cochrane; others want it back in Calgary, which is east on Highway 1A (it becomes Crowchild Trail once you're inside the city). We handle both, plus longer runs west toward the mountains if that's where you need to go.
